Regress will return your equipment to their original form.
Kallistro (in town) will regress items for either 500qs or
an Orb of regression. (The command is: 'regress (item)')
With qps you will receive back 75% gold forged on normal eq
(but 0% refine costs), and 0% gold back on relic eq.
With an Orb you will receive back 100% forge costs AND refine
costs on both normal and relic eq.
